I spent this year’s July 4th holiday in Vermont, like I did in the past 10 years.

The moment I get to Vermont I feel like I start regenerating. The nature and the green, the birds and the deers, everything is enchanting.
This year I decided to put to good use a zoom lens for my Canon EOS that my husband gave to me as a gift years ago. I don’t use it quite enough but this past weekend I walked around as quietly as possible, armed with my camera and its zoom lens and I was able to snap some nice pictures of little friends hiding all over the forest and its surroundings, such as birds, frogs and a stunning blue crayfish.

I also found the time to paint one of the blue jays that I photographed, in a quick color sketch done in my new travel sketchbook.

I used my Lukas watercolor pans, which I’ve had for over 10 years now and the Perfect Sketchbook by Etchr.

Take the time to paint something beautiful every day, even if it’s just a small sketch that nobody will ever see. Practice art everyday!
